Havering’s GLA member, Roger Evans, today won the Mayor of London’s agreement to meet with the borough’s civic leaders about the reduced scope of the scheme to redevelop Romford railway station under plans for Crossrail.
Speaking at Mayor’s Question Time on Wednesday at City Hall, Boris said that he is willing to meet with Havering borough leaders to discuss the changes and see what could be done to improve them.
Commenting afterwards Mr Evans said:
“Under the new plans demand will outstrip capacity at Romford station, so as things stand we won’t get the bright shiny new station we’d been promised, but a much reduced affair which won’t resolve the current overcrowding.
“If the current plans go ahead it will be a big lost opportunity to develop this area of Romford. So I am delighted that Boris is prepared to step in.”
